what would you have to do in order for a crested to drop its tail. would you pretty much have to grab it by its tail? i would like mine to keep theirs lol

Pretty much! Don't pick up your cresties by the tail, when handling be careful of their tails...
Yes, or scare it terribly. And don't forget, crestie tails dont grow back.

I agree with all the statements above, i also heard of females losing thier tails when a male is trying to mate.

I had a male once drop his tail for no apparent reason that I could figure out. He had been shipped to me. I placed him in a nice secluded tank in a darker room with no traffic so he wouldn't get spooked. The next morning I found a tail on the bottom of the tank...

I think they are cute even without a tail. and they can still produce beautiful babies!
Does someone have a picture of a crestie without his tail?? I would like to see.

damn..i had some in an email and i cant fird them..what is left is just a little stub at the base of the tail.
