View Full Version : Housing Herps and Feeders??
Aside from the temperature issues, mice like room temp and most herps like much warmer, is there an problem with housing herps and faaders, mice & rats, in the same room.
Thanks

I personally dont recommend it, one problem being with snakes it tends to keep them in feed mode all the time. Especially snakes like burms which like to eat all the time anyway.

errrm... I wouldn't say mice "like" room temperature, it's just people keep them at room temperature..
I keep mice as pets so I've looked into it before, and the Ideal temperature for mice and rats is 75F....
I am sorry that this post did not help in any way, it's 7 am and I havn't slept yet....

I would NOT keep feeders and herps in the same room. Your snakes will smell the food (a burm can smell a single rat aross the room), and it will constantly be looking for it. You run a higher risk of being bitten (from a feeding response no less!). I know some people will tell you that they do it all the time with no problems, but I also know people that never change the oil in their car and it has not broken down yet. When the problem occurs, it will most likely be a major occurance.
