Hi everyone. I think most know that I just lost my first baby bp to malnutrition but I have another little girl on the way. I wanted to get as much info about disinfecting everything my first girl touched and also quaranteening for the new one. So far I've washed and disinfected the tank and carpets in 10% clorox water. I soaked all of her old furntiure and the carpets overnight, and I sprayed the carpets out with the water hose to remove odor and loose carpet fibers and such. Is there anything I am forgetting? Anyone have any tips for making this new girl welcome and comfortable after her trip?

No, that about covers it (it might even be over-kill). But now the important part is washing all the stuff if the bleach residues. Make sure you rinse thoroughly!!!!

You can never be too safe with rinsing!! Water is cheap, dead snakes are expensive!!

"Dilution is the best solution".... a silly sounding but true term in the pharmaceutical manufacturing business. The volume of water we would use to rinse equipment was ridiculous but scientifically proven...

Even better is to use something less toxic to your snakes. I use peroxide and vinegar for complete disinfections (snake to snake) and just peroxide for routine cleaning. Peroxide/Vinegar combined is more effective at killing germs than bleach, and is also 100% non-toxic, and easy to rinse. Spray peroxide with one bottle then spray over top with vinegar (or vice versa, it doesn't really matter). For some reason they are more effective when applied in this fashion rather than premixed. Then give it a rinse. For routine cleaning I just spray down enclosure w/ peroxide and wipe dry. This method sucks for glass though as it will leave streaks, so you would want to rinse.
