With the large ammount of traffic in the classifieds / growth / cost of the site I have came up with a idea which might appeal to some people who sell alot of animals in the classifieds and would like to see if anyone would be interested in something like this. Here are the ideas I have came up with.

1.) For a small monthly / Yearly fee you would be given your own forum within the classifed sections to sell your animals which only you could post in so your threads would never be lost.

2.) Again for a monthly / yearly fee, a thread which would be located when you click on classifieds where the categories, Snakes, Lizards, Etc are that would be pinned there with your Name and you could edit / update that thread with the availabilty / current stock...

If anyone would be interested in something like this, please PM me or respond to this thread...

3.) Allow the sponsored forums to be used to sales of animals aswell and just use those for your classifieds...

Thats all I have come up with ;)

Well, to tell you the truth I have yet to date to sell anything off the ssnakess.com classifieds. All of my internet sales come from the other banned site. So, if the classifieds were to go to a pay/user format I'd definately have to rethink my advertising options.

Cory, I don't think he was saying you would have to pay to put up ads on the classifieds that are their now. Only, if you wanted your "own" classified boards to do as you wish with and post all your available animals there you would pay for a classified area with your name on it , or something along that line. Am I right?

Our classifieds will always be free... This is a option for people who dont want there posts to get lost for the ones who actually sell things here, re read the thread...

But to tell you the truth, you have been a member since the begining and have never supported so we didnt expect / care if you used this option anyways.

********, I have always said from Day One that you should be charging for classifieds. It weeds out the riff raff. But you're bent on keeping it free so I won't try and beat you over the head with it, LOL!

If the new option helps classifieds stand out, then I'd go for it man. I mean, the same dude(s) and dudettes keep posting the same damn ad to keep there's at the top every day/week. Its annoying. If there was an option to have other people's ads stand out from that kind of crap, that'd be great. I'm sure people would use it.

lol Jeff!! I just remember how frustrating it was when I was a member on other sites where you had to pay and I was trying to sell 1 snake and owned 2... There was no way i was going to pay over 100$ to sell 1 animal that was worth 150$ and never use it again, so for that reason the classifieds will always remain free :) I could also imagine how frustrating it can be selling stuff with 75 other ads there and only 15 on the first page, thats why im trying to figure a way for people who sell more stuff to keep it seperated from the chaos, and help with costs to boot... :D

I do hope the classifieds remain free. But, I like the personal forum idea. I would pay for that.

i think that this is a great idea..it would be very easy to see what some of the renowned breeders have available, without having to go to each individual site..You could always find the bigger breeders easily, and then just look through the regular classifieds for stuff from infrequent sellers.

It basically works like your own web site, you can post your info, who you are, what your expecting, stuff for sale, really the skys the limit with your own personal forum.

Jeff,

I've never supported this site? Hmm.....I wonder what I was doing being a moderator for 6 months then? Maybe if you weren't so insultive you'd get more paying customers?

Who sold you your first snake?

Corey

You were also the reason the site almost collapsed when you were relieved of your position, but this is no place to air this anyways, if you werent so arrogant I wouldnt even have had to respond to your thread in the first place... If you have never sold a single snake to a member like you claim why do you bother posting them for sale here anyways?? Im sure if I made a thread asking if people have bought a snake from you from a classified on the site it there would be at least 5.

sSNAKESs.com

or at least from your presence on the site period... What you wrote was pretty ignorant, not to mention off topic, how would you expect that I respond to something like that????

Matt_k bought burms from you from a ad on here to mention 1 I know of for sure... Please elaborate on how you have made 0 sales like you claim?? and if you cant explain your arrogance / ignorance in the post?

Jeff,

Excuse me? Maybe you should think that post over a little bit before you jump to conclusions! Sure people on this site have snakes of mine........but not one person who has ever emailed me directly off ssnakess.com (directly from the classified reply button) has purchased anything.

I'm getting pissed off so I'm not going to respond to anything else in this thread. I don't function well when I get pissy (as you know)........It's probably best if you don't keep this going.

When was this thread even about charging for classifieds???

personally i think it is a great idea even if you dont make a sale it is great exposure , before i came to this site i didnt know any off the breeders like Corey Woods or Jeff Favelle so even though it might affect you directly it will affect you indirectly though word of mouth just the other day i was tell a friend that was looking in to getting a snake to check out jeffs and coreys website and look though ssnakess.com

This is a great idea, just as Jeff F has said time and again. I love that this site is always growing and changing to meet the members needs. Not too many forums of this nature are actually beneficial to its members, or willing to change to make it better for them. Please e-mail us and give us the details and we'll be right in line to do the same as Jeff:Dn Keep up the good stuff!

I like the 2nd idea better. If everyone pays to have their own forum, eventually there will be dozens etc to go through. I would certainly rather look through ONE forum than the through 20+ to find a snake for sale.
However, I do like the idea of paying for having your own for sale list. It would reduce the total # of classified posts without making a million different forums for each member. Also, I think we should be able to make a search that is less than 4 letters! When I try a search for "boa" or even "amazon tree boa" or something, it won't let me because "boa" isn't long enough. That's always driven me nuts.

(directly from the classified reply button) There IS no reply button, they need to e-mail you directly or though snakes, that is the only way for someone to get back to you.

But yeah, definitely don't start charging people 100$ for a 3 month classifieds membership. It would weed out the riff raff but frustrate everyone in the process :D.

could you not just make a forum for breeders only to sell there snake cause there going to use the forum far more then anyone else and then just change them a small fee

Good Idea Jeff.......Send me a PM with all the info

As for Cory maybe if you did not post $15,000-$25,000 snakes you might sell more on here?

You have to think of it as a mini web site within the web site, the name is listed and what animals they work with / are breeding is listed in the descriptions, so if the person(s) who have these forums use them to there advantage they can basically cover all aspects of potential sales from ssnakess.com members in one place... Post who they are, what they are working with, what they currently have available, what they are expecting, shipping, terms, etc etc. Nowone has to go through dozens of forums, just the ones which may have animals they are interested in. It also can save the seller alot of time with emails like do you have, are you going to have, how do you ship, what methods of payment do you take, and helps the buyer because they dont have to leave the site or email to get this information. If you log every day and there is a new post the forum will be lit up, heck if you dont log for 5 days and there is a new post the forum will be lit up aswell so you can always see if there are new posts like every other forum :) Also there probably wont be dozens of them sold anyways, you can maybe expect to see 5 or 6 over the next few months if what i would assume would be bought. :)

definitely don't start charging people 100$ for a 3 month classifieds membership. It would weed out the riff raff but frustrate everyone in the process

ssnakess.com will always have free classifieds! :D

Ill get that changed for you today! :D

i think instead of having a forum set aside for paid advertising how about changing it this way:

Paid ads get the same flag as the "Important:" posts do on the other forums (they stay at the top) and each one gets a colour to differenciate it from the next. they also stay on top of every page. so when you change pages they go to the top of every page. Also you should make free ads automaticaly expire after 2 weeks and paid ads expire after a month. also get rid of the reply option all together, this will stop people from "bumping" their ads to the top, just let people delete the ad.

Great ideas Jeff... I think Lisa offers some good tips too. I really think it would work. I think it would seem very professional and organized. Cheers, and good luck with it!

I think your idea is great Jeff! Its great that you are offering both options to us. The paid forums are not pracitical to people who may want to sell a few leopard geckos or whatnot, but at the same time if you are selling a lot of animals regularily and making sales through the site, its fair to offer support to the site, and you get a whole forum to yourself!. Who can beat that! :D
