Can anyone tell me what kind of wood this is?

I dont think it is cedar. but I want to get other peoples opinions. What type of wood do you think it is? Its untreated. Do you think its toxic to reptiles?

and what is it about woods that is toxic to reptiles? Is it just when it is in bedding form? or if the enclosure is made of it, will that cause problems as well.

The best guess I can give you is that the original plywood
dresser is either fir or spruce; which are your common plywoods.
The doors appear to be oak. To tell for sure I need a much better
lit up picture of the inside of the dresser where the wood is untreated. As for the types of poisonous woods & the reasons ; I
think that was answered in your more recent thread above. If you can get a better pic feel free to p.m. or e-mail it to me.

The doors are G1S fir ply. The interior looks like Birch or Poplar ply. Nothing to worry about.
I'd stain and varathane that raw shelf and doors though. And you better add some screened vents.

I agree with Stockwell. If you are concerned seal the inside with a clear finish like Varathane and let is cure not just dry to touch. Read the can usually takes a week or two.

the easiest way is to avoid all aromatic woods when possible, and when they must be used only sealed mild ones. Unfortunately hardwoods (usually not aromatic) are much more expensive the the softwoods (as in everything exceptions).

The only major concern I see about using wood for an enclosure is ticks. The little buggers love to lay eggs in untreated wood.
