Hi all,

Just wondering what everyone's experience has been like shipping animals by WestJet -- they're sure a helluva lot cheaper than AC, but from what I understand they don't insure their live animal shipments, so I want to make sure that I'm not taking a huge risk sending a big shipment through them...

Any input is welcome, good/bad experiences, what you've heard... anything :)

Thanks guys!
Jen :D

it's true that they don't insure though.

I have used Westjet countless times over the years. Aside from one extremely cold trip from Van to Edmonton (-30) I have never had problems.
Good Luck

I've had good experiences and bad experiences with WestJet. The one time they were extremely disorganized and had no clue what was going on, and apparently the shipper had jsut as much trouble shipping them to me as I did picking them up. 4 hours after arrival I finally got to pick up my parcel, which was carried an tossed every which way, poor snakes weren't too happy :( They sent us on a goose chase.....go meet us over in the parking lot by thos egates, then go over to the front desk, then here, then there.....argh! The rest were fine though, on time and in good condition. I still use WestJet and haven't had anymore difficulties.

I've used WestJet probably 20 times in the last 18 months and I haven't had any problems.

But I prefer Air Canada and use them most of the time.

I have used them and they weren't reliable. Got the run around. No one knew where the package was and seemed reluctant to try and track it down. Air Canada is worth the extra cash when it comes to live shipments!

I've had leopard geckos shipped by aircanada twice and each time, there was a problem so I switched to westjet. They don't insure but shipping has never been so easy, or cheap, before! I honestly would prefer not to have anything shipped by AC and I was VERY impressed with how WestJet shipped my little Stitch. We got there, signed some papers, picked up the box and left with the healthiest baby leo ever! I like WestJet. What can I say? I just do.

Thanks for the input guys :)

Anybody else? So far it's mixed reviews... lol... I'm still undecided!

I've only used Air Canada on account of the guarantee. I've had only success & good experience with them.

Hi - We have used Westjet countless times with success. Out of Abbotsford they are just great and very efficient. I would recommend them definitely.

I have shipped both AC and WestJet. Despite AC having insurance, try and see how "easy" it is to get your money back on a DOA reptile.
