Hey,
I will be building an enclosure for some tokay geckos out of an old plywood firewood box.
I am planning on painting the inside and then spraing on enamal. But the enamal has the posin warning on it.
Im just woundering if this will be safe after it dries and airs out for a while.

-Thanks

i am not an expert and i could be wrong but i would think it would forsure be dangerous. What if the lizard licks the side of the wood since they do clime on walls. I think you shouldnt take a chance and just try to find something else to paint it with or not paint it at all and put some backround on it?

I agree. Would you want to eat some of that stuff? I don't think so. And your gecko does have a chance of licking the wood, or scratching it and eating some of the shavings that he scratches off........better safe than sorry!

Wow, you get replies quick on this site, dont you.

Thanks, I will probable use plyerithane(sp?) instead.
The reasoan I wanted to use enamal, was because I already had some, and it fors a super hard surface, it's like the enamal on your teeth.
But thanks, I'll use something else.

Once it's dry it's fine. Look at melamine, in liquid form it's poison. when dry it's fine.
You can also buy melamine paint (it's basicly plastic paint) at home depot (i couldn't find it at canadian tire).
