Hey guys,

I have had my bp for almost a year now and I have not had problems with her shedding until now. This is the first time she has shed in pieces. I spray her everday, she has a heating pad on one side of the tank. She's in a ten gallon inclosure with a screen top. I haven't changed anything so I am wondering what it could be?? She's an awesome eater and I have not had any problems with her before this so I am kinda worried. I am guessing that I need to raise her humidity but how should I do that. Her heating pad is under her hide spot.

Thanks in advanced for your input.

Maybe it's due to the stress of living in a 10 gal tank. That is too small for a year old ball python. Do you have a good heat gradient?

Is the water dish big enough for her to fit into? That might help. A humid hide would help too. It's hard to keep humidity in a screen top tank.

To help her now you can soak her. You could put her into a wet pillow case for 20 min. You could soak her and gently rub the old skin with a damp towel.

My bp just went through a shed a few days ago. He was also shedding in pieces, so I soaked him in a tub of warm water for about an hour, then used a damp wash cloth to rub the skin off. Worked like a charm. Just make sure the skin is ready to come off, or you could end up pulling off some scales.
