What are the specs on that enclosure? it looks cool and I may try something similar to that.
Here is mine! It is in my gallery if it doesn't come up... (the picture links never work for me)

It has changed a bit since the pic though. I have added another coconut and a corner waterdish.
Here is one of my leo enclosures. (no,that isn't sand...it is tan fabric and yes the plants are real.)

Dark Angel, you need to use the URL of the picture, not the page the picture is on.

This is elektras cage.
http://ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/1695elektra_s_tank5_web_format.jpg
and if this one works this is my main colony tank but it has went through many transformations since this after this photo was taken i added some fake plants. But right now they are getting medication and the tank is completely wiped out and on papertowles. but after they get finished with thier meds i will be rearranging there set up once again this time it will have rocks ( i bought some pretty huge slate rocks that i will be busting up along with a few different sized rocks) along with a swimming pool effect of bed a beast with a cover so they can lay eggs there and that will also be their moist hide. thanks for looking.
it didn't work do if you would like to see it please follow the link.

Hi All,
I'm new here and have been lurking for a few days. In a couple weeks I will be adopting one of Alicewave's leo babies (formerly known as "Trois", possibly to be named "Soleil"). She's given me some great advice on setting up my tank, but it's still a work in progress. So, feel free to give me your input! This is my first reptile in over 8 yrs.
Here it is:

Yay Amanda glad to see you here. Looks great. I can't tell which are the fake plants and which are the real ones but Soleil will try to climb them and you don't want her to fall and hurt herself, or escape so I'd lower them a bit.

Thanks Emily. Here's my new setup for the babies. It's only temporary, I'm moving them to a 20 gallon pretty soon so it's a little cramped at the moment. They don't seem to mind though. http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/949juvieenc.jpg

Thanks, matt and emily.
Matt it will be a month or two until they get there new setup but i will be sure to post a few pics of the new setup. This is going to be my first attempt at setting up something like that. I can't wait it's going to be so much fun watching them explore thier new home.
Alicewave i have a question for you again. what did you use to tape up your dig. themometer in the cage. I went out this weekend and bought 2 more one i want to place in my main colony gecko tank and the other in my corn snake tank. I would like to put the main part on one side of the tank and run the digital lead to the other end. I was thinking electrical tape but i'm a little worried about that. Do you have any suggestions??? Thanks ahead of time.

The therm should come with some but if it doesn't, the two-sided foam tape by 3M works really well. That thermometer is there leftover from when that was my Rosy Boa's cage. He kept slithering over the unit and it kept falling off the piece that you mount so that is duct tape keeping the two pieces together.

Drewlowe,
I too remember what it was like when i made a big flag stone hide hole for them and they loved, i was also glad to see them use it so much, and get to watch them run around in it.
I'm looking forward to see your new cage

Since my old pic is down I'll put up this one, I just redid the cage, adding more rocks. Go to the link to see it because I can't post the pic here... http://groups.msn.com/theplatedlizardburrow/leopardgeckos.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=305

Wow Peregrine falcon, that is an amazing setup you've got there. About how many gallons would you say it is? Im interested in building a huge on like that too for my leopard geckos
peregrinefalcon
08-14-03, 01:37 PM
I have no idea how many gallons it is, but the measurements are 5'x2.5'x1' (lxwxh). Maybe someone else could convert it into gallons. I highly recommend, if you have the room, that you build a large cage for your leos. They are so much more active and just seem to act more naturally in a large cage, plus don't get obese as easily. Good luck! And glad you like the cage :D

Sorry this matt winter, alex 33 forgot to sing out
Yes, i have a pretty big cage well not as a big as yours (50 g) And my 4 little guys love it. How much did everything cost you (wood, screening, hinges, the stand, glass, payment for getting glass cut, etc.) (not including leopard geckos or bowls or the stones)

I can't remember the exact price of everything, but it came out to around $150 I believe. I wasn't going to add the rocks price in because I just got those from my backyard! :D And I just cut the plexi-glass myself, you can get a cheap plastic tool made specifically for cutting it. Your leos will love the new cage I'm sure! Although 50 gallons is still pretty big!

Yes, lol but not big enough. Is that $150 canadian , and were did you get the tool?
peregrinefalcon

Yep, $150 Canadian. I just got the tool with the plexi-glass, it'll probably be in the same section of the store.

Here are a couple pics of the improved on enclosure I've been working on (for one of Alicewave's Leo babies I will be adopting).
I got smaller dishes, and added some hides and basking spots.
http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/2947leo_enc.jpg
The "basking stump" I ordered from herpsupplies. I plan on using it as a moist hide. I put a damp paper towel in there under the lights for a couple days, and it did hold the moisture. I thought the bottom was closed off, but it isn't, so I may put a plastic lid under it, too.
http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/2947view3.jpg
Also, I had two fake rock hides I had bought at Petco, so I turned them into kind of a double hide and bridged them with a real stone I found outside. I figured this will be a good basking spot, too.
http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/2947view1.jpg
Anyway, let me know if anyone has any further suggestions!
Thanks,
Amanda:D

herpnewbie, you are using tiles for the substrate right? Do you find that the leos can grip onto them and walk fine without slipping?
Nice cage by the way!

She doesn't have the Leo yet. (She's getting on of my babies) I use tile that has no coating and I haven't had any problems with slipping. It's the same texture of a smooth rock. Occasionaly the mealies slips away when they try to catch them but they just try again. Gives em a little extra exercize. :)

yep thanks to alicewave i have a tank setup with slate. The leo thats in there seems to do perfect on it. No slippin and slidin for her. lol A great benifit is no risk of impactation from substrate.
<img src="http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/511/133leotank.jpg">
I'm a bit late here. :)
The black hide is the humid hide (moss in there) and the calcium/food dish isn't in the tank there.
