You should feed him only once a week, not every 2 days !

When he'll be ready to eat more or bigger preys, you can give him 2 preys per meal, but don't give him more meals per week.

As for the size of the prey,, a good rule is to give him a prey 1.5 times the size of the largest part of its body

A for the name... how about: Casper

Move him up to fuzzies. he looks big enough. For the name, yeah... Casper.

Oh, I can't wait to get my ghosts....

You can feed a baby corn every 4 days easy. After about 10 pinkies he should be ready to sqeeze a fuzzy down. Once they get on fuzzies you'll notice a much more dramatic growth rate.

Name him Elvis! I bet there are about 3000 ghost corns named Casper in NA... :D

wow what a beutiful snake, the substrast shouldn't be a big problem just watch him when he eats becuase my corn nearly chocked on that expandable bedding when he was eating his mouse because well he was swollwing it some of the stuff got caught in his mouth and he started like making wierd noises and trying to regurgated but i pulled it out

Nicky, he won't eat in front of me. It's funny, because I put the pinky out in the open and when he sees it he drags it into his cave and eats it in there so Ive never seen him eat.... is this normal behavior?

Did you buy it online and if so from whom? Nice snake.

yer lots of snakes like to eat in there hides, (especially in glass tanks as they can feel over exsposed) baring in mind if you stay still, he cant really tell the difference between you and a tree. You should feed him way more then every 7 days as they can be full grown in 2 years!;)
as for the name, i'd call him Slime'er...... or Marsh-mellow-man:D
maybe even Egon, Ray, Winston or Peter V. Jenneen if hes a she

dfitzsim, I ordered him online from www.lllreptile.com . They are a very good company my friends have all ordered reptiles from there.

i personally wouldn't feed on that substrate just to play it on the cautious side. put a piece of paper towel down, then put the mouse on that.

i agree, try a small fuzzy. i'm sure he won't have a problem.

And, I have fed my corns at that age, once every 5th day, then slow it to once a week as they mature, finally when adults, once every 10-14 days... Just make sure the snake has digested properly and eliminated before feedings. if he has any "leftovers" you could be setting him up for digestive problems.

Nice looking snake dude... I finally signed up here so I can post. lol. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that you better not be asking me if I wanna buy 100 fuzzies in bulk with you since I got a shipment of rat pinks coming in for the sav in 2 days:p

I'd offer him large fuzzies and expect a move to hoppers rapidly. Check my post in 'food for thought' for girth comparisons

Great looking snake, I'm feeding our corn hatchling every 4 days, our female carolina should be sheeding for the 2nd time in the next day or 2 then I'm moving her up to fuzzies..the male snow is still quite a bit smaller so it will be a couple more feeds before I move him up a size.

Name it any thing but Casper, I hate that name for Ghost corns. Lets show some orginal thought here, it's like people who name their Iguanas "Iggy". I know of at least 3-4 people that I have sold Ghosts to in the past that are named "Casper". How about naming it after a famous "ghost" that is known to haunt something somewhere or something, anything but Casper DOH LOL! As far as everyones "feeding" concerns: baby snakes should be offered 1-2 small prey items every 5-7 days, depending on specimen & appetitte. IMHO & that of many others. Mark

twister~thecorn my 2 corns are both 6wks old the female I have just moved up to fuzzies, the male will have probably have one more feed on 2 pinkies then I will move him up to fuzzies, once on fuzzies I will feed them once every 5-7 days.
I would have thought at 4 months old yours should be on fuzzies at least!!

yer twisted corn blokey, you should feed your snake more then that, it could be a lot bigger, and if you keep it at that ratio it would be full grown for a good 3 years, and might never reach 1.8m :( should be on 2-4 a week at least. dont know what they told you when you bought it, but most sellers talk out of there rectom

Great looking snake. I definitely think you should be feeding him fuzzies, he'll fatten up in no time if you get him on that size of meals.

On the topic of feeding on the substrate, DON'T! Get a plastic deli dish and feed your snake in that. That stuff cannot be digested properly and could possibly kill your snake if digested, feed him outside the tank. Another problem with that is if you feed inside the snakes enclosure he will associate the tank opening with food coming in and so when you go to pick him up he will most likely strike. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers, Kyle~
