a minimum cage size should be 6x4x4 per monitor. That is what mine are in.
bigger the better and as big as possible, minimum, 4x4x4, and put this up on a table, or build a larger enclosure, 6x6x8 or something. These animals like to DIG, climb, and investigate everything...I had cages smaller than this, but let them go outdoors, run of the house (except kitchen)...but not every albiogularis you can do this with...
good luck!

Hey.. One thing i've noticed on a few different herp websites.. nobody is either willing or able to SHOW photos of their varanid enclosures. I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for mine when my little one gets a bit bigger and outgrows his tank
Is there a reason behind this, or is it just me noticing too much petty detail?
cheers
Justin
yea i've noticed it too! I think one of the most interesting parts about being in an online community like this one is that we can give each other ideas on what our cages look like. I've even asked to see a cage but i had got no positive replies, just descriptions. Oh well i guess they can't share :(
It's a conspiracy
Hi Justin,
I have plenty of pics of albigularis, maybe a few thousand, and their cages, a few hundred, but I do not have a scanner and if I did, I have no idea how to use it...at monitors, I have 2 decades experience, at computers, I have frustration and contempt...sorry.
If you live in California, near berkeley, look me up! I'll show you all the junk Ive got here.
cheers,

well these are not my cages they belong to a zoo I worked at but you get a rough idea.
The 2 largest cages in the back round are varanid cages.

same basic cage only it houses a Anaconda.

in the back round the huge room like cage housed a salvadorii.

Not all the larg cages on the wall are 4' high 4'wide and 8' long the smalles ones are 4'X4'X4'
except the pic with the retic I think that one was 8'X8'X8' I am not sure thow.

Hi Chrondro,
Nice pics - what zoo do you work at? Looks clean, and obviously they have good staff there! :)
Thanks for sharing...how big is the salvadorii there?

I dont work there any more it is a verry clean place to work the animals are nasty like nothing you will ever see but then again it is a zoo not a pet store.
the salvadorii was just under 7 feet.
