I've just noticed a breathing "noise" coming from my cal king, he takes a deep breath, he breaths out slightly- pauses, then continues to breath out making a noise (sounds like me breathing out), I dont think the pause bit is unusual, just the noise.
His viv is clean, not to humid and not to dry, i'm hoping its not a RI , but i'm not sure what else could make him make this noise?
I did feed him a hampster for his last meal, and I herd some 1 say they cant digest them very well, but hes been fine on them before??
What causes RI, and wot else could it be? I'll take him to the vets asap;)
thanx

no he shed two weeks ago so is not due for another 2-4 weeks (although he could do with a shed because hs put on some weight)
he seems make the noise more when hes out side of the viv, but he would be much more active then (could be dust with a bit of luck or maybe hes got food in his belly thats constricting his lung movement?).
I've just seen him in his water bowl, which he doesnt do very oftern (also i never put too much water in his bowl as i herd this can contribute to RI) Also his belly looks a little off colour, hes normally yellowish green, but looks a little darker, more orangey yellow?? I'm a little worried as there are no close herp vets and if its serious it could take a while to get him seen. Has anybody ever herd of these symptoms???
he still seems alert and perky, and no other distincted behavoural difference apart from the water (but then it is quite hot today)
?????sum 1 help??????

What type of bedding is he on? I had my snake on conunut husk recently and she developed a respitory infection, I took her off it and she is back to herself again.

hes on wood chips and a desert substitute (think ts made from corn) but its not really very humid and nowhere is moist. He hasnt been making as many noises today and his belly seems less off colour (is the colour a symtom?)
I take it no herp vets have looked at this thread:(
what where the symtoms in your snakes when they've had RI?

ok never mind, dont bend over backwards or any thing lads, lol
He seems almost back to normal now.... and guess what..... he IS about to shed his skin!!!!!! this is incredable, its like hes on Arnies diet or somthing, he wont stop growing!!! hes nearly 7 years old and hes shedding his skin a least once a month!! i reckon somones been feeding there mice steroids:)
Also i think the off colour of his belly must have just been a bruse coz its back to normal now and he did try and jump off my table on to the floor a while back.
sorry to scare any one (and my self) but looks like things might be back to normal:D we'll see after he sheds in a day or so;)

actually he must ber nearly 8, and what i thought was a bruise, is actually just the colour he turns when held at a certain angle in the sunlight
