Hey how is everyone?? My trip is awesome so far. Ive seen about 20 lizards but thats all. While we were at my house(my aunt and uncle where too). The house sitter said she killed 2 scorps!:( (Meany). WEll I was wondering.......where & when is the best time to catch scorpions around the house and outside?? I know to use a blacklight but after another forum member posted his scorp babies i really want to catch one......and possibly buy one when i get home. Since i assume they are fairly easy to keep??
Thank you

As for the when... Best time is after dark with a black light. Scorps are nocturnal and will glow under the black light so you can spot them easily!
As for the where... that all depends where you are. Looking around rock piles and logs is usually a good place... some scorpions are on the trunks of trees (bark scorpions)
They aren't too hard to keep as pets and MOST species aren't considered to be dangerous to humans.

if you are in the area of the desert hairy your also in the area of the texas bark and the arizona bark scorpions, both have VERY painfull stings and while not deadly are considered to have medically significant venom. Be very careful with any small (2 inches or less) scorps, the deserts may be 3-7 inches in total length but a scorpling desert and a bark are too close to call in the field usually.

Could be fun trying to avoid them bumbling around in the dark with a black light. :)
