hey snakedude dont know nothing bout no dartfrogs cept they look cool.
but this has come up on every forum ive been to at least once.
the answer is always no.
most likely thing that has happened was the animal (dragon gecko, frog) died of other causes and the worms started to feed on the carcus, eating thier way in not out..
hope this helps

with dart frogs when feeding fruit flies as a primary food source they aren't fatty enought so people feed small wax worms to supply this. If you ever looks at most frogs that are only fed fruit flies they are very skinny. I personally feed 100% crickets because they supply the darts with everything that they need. but wax worms are an awsome food supply as long as its not the primary food source.

I feed my dart frogs a diet of fruit flies that I've cultured..(so I know they are good) and smaaaaaaaall crickets. Dependant on the type of dart you have, is what size 'prey' it could eat. I can't find little waxies here, so I can't do anything with that. And my darts are perfectly plump, as are those of all the breeders I know (whom as far as I know, do not feed them wax worms). So there is no reason to feel concerned about keeping them on a pure crix and fruit fly diet. Besides, fruit flies are amazingly easy to culture, and if you give the darts enough, they will always be pleasantly rounded.

But I wouldn't feed darts mealworms. Not even tiny ones...
But that's just my feeling about it.

This is all just based on my personal experience after all, and only my humble opinion.

PS Lance, you are absolutely correct that waxies ARE high in fat. I don't ever suggest them as a base diet, that's like feeding a child chocolate bars for dinner... Eventualy he'll refuse proper foods and insist on treats only. But there is no harm in giving them to anything in occasion....hey, we all need to splurge once in awhile ;)

I'm having an issue typing here...cause my conure is rolling the mouse around and moving the 'scroller wheel'....what a little brat...
sorry...
now he's standing on the right (-->) direction key...ugh!!
(probably will have to go back and correct this later...)

seriously though
how do you feed your animals pinheads and fruitflies
do you put them in another cage in thier own cage they would blend in with the surrondings and then escape no...
dont know never owned nothing small enough to eat these things just asking for future reference

i would think that feeding em just about anything they will eat should be just fine. but, that said, i caught some little black ants last night, to feed my frogs, and when i put my 2 tincs in a small tank with some ants, they zapped em, and then right away stuck out their tongues all the way and pawed them to get the ants off! i'm not sure whats up with this behaviour, but i am assuming that the ants must have been biting the frogs tongues, and thid displeased the frogs. i really thought this was a great idea, as i have always read that ants are their favourite food in the wild, and ants are very easy to catch, just set out a tupperware with some fruit in it, and when the fruit is covered with ants, snap on the lid, and voila! but now i don't know what to do. will they get used to it? the thing is, they actually became afraid of the ants after trying 2 or 3 times, so i don't know what to do!!! can anybody tell me??? i should probably start my own new thread, but maybe i'll get the response i am looking for here! thanks, guys(and girls!) bye!!

never feed ants. it can be harmful to your frogs when the ants bite the frogs tongues. the tongue can stop catching the flies and its very critical that this does not happen. i know people that have lost frogs to this.

i know this sounds funny but accually darts prefer termites. and they eat them without a problem. i highly suggest you don't ever try the ants again.

actually, i found out that only very few types of canadian ants are palletable to darts, and apparently the ones in my yard aren't one of 'em! so, no, i won't try just any old ants again. not unless i know what they are and know that darts like 'em! thanks laurie!

lots of and species have formic acid making them taste horrible, would just about bet that and not bites was the problem. bet if you checked the edible ones they will have little or no formic acid in their systems
