does anyone know where I can get more information on these guys? I have seen pictures of them and have fallen in love. I know nothing about varanids, so any help would be appreciated. Don't worry, I plan to research a bunch before purchasing anything :D Thanks!

Also, check out www.themonitorspot.com , Ravi co-authored a book on Savannah as well which is definatly worth getting your hands on.

Good luck, savs are very under-rated in my opinion, I love my two.

Here you go,

Savannah Monitors (http://mampam.50megs.com/bok/)

Kudos on asking first, and buying later. Plenty of folks here that can provide valuable input as well.

Good choice... I don't own any though I want very badly to get one or two... just look like a biatch to house. Apparently they're very cheap, too. When I went the reptile show in pittsburgh they had babies for 9.99.

I'm planning on getting one aswell after dad moves out. I'm building it an 8 foot long enclosure. I like to spoil! lmao

Hi Jenn,

Get Daniel Bennetts and Ravi Thakoordyal book, savanna monitors. Its the best and gives anyone good basic info on them; your cage you can put a breeding in there! They're great to breed and babies are spitting image of their folks!

cheers,

Yes, I agree. I love Ravi's book.

So you saw 'em online and fell in love, huh? I saw one at a pet store and I was like, "what IS that? OMG, it is soooo cute!" And now I have one. hehe

question: Can sav's stay in a 50 gallon tank with a screen top? Would that work at all - not as a permanent set up, just a temp. baby set up?

I think that should be fine until they are maybe 15-20 inches long.

P.S. Does anyone in the GTA Breed Savs? Im looking to get one, and i dont want to get a wild caught one. Also, would a 6x3x2.5 be fine for an adult?
Thanks:D
