what does CH mean?

I know it means Captive hatched, but what does it mean compared to CB?

Does it mean the parents were WC and these are their babies bred in captivity? Or does it mean the eggs were found in the wild?

Please explain. Thanks.

captive hatched means that the eggs were collected from the wild (from wild parents) and then the eggs were taken to a facility where they were hatched in captivity (correct?)

CB usually means captive bred, meaning that the parent snakes were at least born in captivity. Some people use CBB to mean captive born and bred, and CB to mean captive born, which, I understand, is something similar to CH.

It can also mean that a gravid WC caught female laid her eggs in captivity and they were hatched out in captivity.

I guess it would depend who CH it. If you're talking BP's and it is CH over in Togo or Ghana then to me an import is an import. Also you'll find people using CB and CBB to mean the same thing. Some use CB to mean born in captivity which is the same has CH but boas don't hatch so CB is more apropriate to use for them. Some use it to mean Captive bred. I have 2.2 ball pythons that I'm goind to breed this year. That means the babies will have come from parents that were bred in captivity (CB) and they will be born in captivity. So they were captive bred and captive born, CBB. I've also read so where that CBB is used if the parents were also bred in captivity. Either way the offspring will be bred in captivity so they are CB and born in captivity so they are also CBB.
I think that's it. But in the order of things I guess CBB is always best because you know that it mean the animals came from parents the were bred in captivity and the animals therefore was obviously born in captivity.

CH is the terminology started for Togo pit hatched Regius.
Years ago the Africans used to simply ship adults to North America but over the last decade they have figured out that babies are worth more than adults , at least for the pet trade.(no good for eating or boots)
Africans now gather gravid females and hold them, sometimes simply in holes in the ground. They let the females incubate their own eggs as they would do anyhow. Then they simply take the babies once they hatch. Now this could be a renewable resource if managed properly, but rather than return the mothers tot the wild, the females are often either exported with the babies or eaten.
In some large scale operations, the snakes are taken inside enclosures and held in large cages.

Either way, the animals did not breed in captivity, they simply were snatched from the wild mid cycle.
Since they generally are hatched by the mother, they pick up her ticks and any other nasties she might have, so they should be considered similar to WC, in regard to health.
CB, captive born, or CBB would indicate the results of full blown captive breeding, and these animals should be clean and free from parasites.

its in reference to an irian jaya carpet. I am thinking the person ment CB, because he has showed me pictures of both parents which have been in his possesion for some time now.

They are farming those in Indonesia too, as well as some bloods and even Boelens. Since Pythons will incubate their own eggs, it isn't all that hard. The eggs come with with their own incubator you might say.(MOM)
