About 21:20 I put my red light bulb on and sat here surfing the net. Looked across at my viv and noticed Angwi with his little head poked out of his hide looking right at me at my desk :)

He was definitely deciding if it would be a good idea to move. not sure how aware he was of me being there, but he wasn't budging - just looking right at me.

Went out of my room to answer the phone, was on it for about 20-25 minutes. Came back in and he'd moved to the opposite side of the viv! Watched him then as he moved up the branch and at 22:06 he's currently curled himself up around the highest point of the branch looking at me - or rather, looking out of the viv :)

He's so cute :D

Tomorrow I'm gonna make him some more climbs and add some ledges. Thinking of also doing an elevated hide i.e. bit of bark, you know the ones you buy from the shops sort of half a circle on top of a ledge (small piece of wood with a layer of astroturf)attached to the viv wall. Probably put it on the cool side since he spends most of his time over there :D

Definitely going to feed him in the evening though, he'll probably come out for his food in the evening I reckon

So, is it right that snakes can't see red light i.e. from a red coloured 'fireglow' bulb? Does it go for other colours too? Might get a blue bulb.

Cheers ;)

yer, when i said i have a blue bulb, i forgot to say it doesnt make viewing the cool end very good if the room is dark and the dimmer switch is turn down to a min (as its the summer) (but its always good to have a spare;)
Also I hope you took my advice in the feeding frequincy as i'll be wanting to see your pics in a month or two, to see how much the little fellow has grown;)

Tonight was the first time I really got to see him at full extension. I mean, I've held him lots but its difficult to tell how long he is that way. I was surprised that he's actually nearer 15"-18" then 12"!!

I am going to feed him some more. I've got nine pinkys for him to get through. Not sure of the frequency I'll feed him them though. Might give him two tomorrow night, then on Thursday night feed him another two.

See how it goes.

A 15-18 inch snake can eat far larger than a pinky or two. My brand new week old hatchlings just ate full sized pinkies for their first meals last night, they aren't even ten inches long and the lump is not very substanstial!

Anyways yeah fuzzies for sure IMHO! Good luck.

remember, less more oftern is better then more less oftern, espeicialy for juvinile snakes;)
my friend used to fed his hatchling corn up to 6 pinkies a week, 2 then 2 then 2. His snake was nearly fullsized after year and a bit (by which time he had progressed though fuzzies, hoppers and small adult mice;) so feed him up!!:)

15 - 18 inches? Hoppers. He will be a happy healthy corn, believe me.

But, the story is pretty cute nonetheless. That's one of the things I love about corns - they USE their enclosures. Everything from under the substrate to the top of the branches you put in there. :)
