Patch gets her first 'bath'

The vet recommended i soak her in warm water to get her well hydrated. i'm new to soaking but here's what i did. i got a little critter keeper and filled it about .5 cm w/ filtered water microwaved to about 83 degrees. i put her in and she seems to wanna get out a little and then calms down. so far she's touched the water w/ her belly and hands.. she wont lay down.. is the water deep enough? she's only 4 inches and .5 grams (pretty darn skinny).. ne thing else i should know about soaking? i plan to soak her for an hour or so

Thats normal... my lizards always stand as tall as they can when they are in the water.
Also, if you want to nuke the water, make sure you stir it first so it is a uniform temperature (microwave = hot spots).
You can ad a little more water, of course, just make sure she doesn't drown in it!

Just make sure you don't microwave her along the water, hummmmm herp soup!

why are you puttign her in water? impaction? or shed? Cause if you want to re-hydrate her, use perlite or gatorade

ahh before i did this i kept telling myself to make sure she wasnt in the microwave lol. i'm just trying to rehydrate her. she's drinking just fine but still has those wrinkles and the vet suggested soaking. well she's been in the water for like 55 minutes and the wrinkles are actually becoming less noticable! thx for the suggestion though i'll keep it in mind

Neo you can probably take her out now. Put her in for a half hour to an hour every day or so until she looks better, then just give her all the water and needs to drink!

Siretsap - Just thought I'd let you know... Perlite is a substrate! I think you mean Pedialyte! I wouldn't recommend Gatorade, either. Jason - Good luck with your gecko! Hope the soaking helps! Keep us posted!

Did you know Leos can swim? When I was force feeding Aurora sometimes I'd get formula on her face and so I'd give her baths in the bathroom to clean her off. I experimented with different water depths and got to see her swim! It's really quite a sight! They use their tails as a propellor almost.
