Well she ate! First she pulled back her head, then looked at it, flicked her tounge, and decided that it was supper! Bad news is that it was a live fuzzy :( .....but atleast she is eating. Atleast I know that if she refuses to eat f/t then I can (if needed) give her a live one. But I refuse to give her anything bigger than that....But I was so excited that he took it that I started almost yelling and screaming! But I didn't want her to spit it out, so I just resorted to jumping up and down! BTW I got those digi thermoms for both tanks....working great. Their night temps are 85 for warm side and about 75 for cool side? Sound ok???? Hope so!!!! Thank you everyone for your patience with me, you all have been great!!!!!!

Good for you! Hey one step at a time, get her feeding first then worry about F/T. Although for the next meal I would try a fresh kill as a posed to a live. It's a step in the right direction and if that is all she'll ever take it's still better then live. A freshly killed rat doesn't bite but it still smells like supper to them. After she's had Fresh kill for a while then try frozen thawed. My pair of Hog Island Boas arrived eating only live. The male went from live to stuned to fresh killed to frozen thawed just that quick. The female took more time to covert, meaning she had about two or three live before she would take stunned and so on. Patients paid off and now she takes F/T no problem. Stick with it and she'll come around. I've found the best way to get a BP to take forzen thawed is to make sure it's really warm and place it and the snake inside a dark container alone over night.
Keep up the good work,
Trevor

congrats!! I just recently got my fasting male back eating by feeding him a live mouse... he's eaten 2 F/T rat pups in a row since then! :D You'll have her eating F/T in no time too I'm sure....

I hope. I think it's the smell. I usually microwave the mice/rats. I am going to try putting the next f/t in like a bag or bowl or something and then putting that in hot water to thaw it out. But I don't know if it was the smell or the fact that the blind fuzzie was moving more than it's body, but it's arms and legs to....don't know....but atleast she's eating!

I usually microwave the mice/rats.
Don't ever do that. You're cooking the rodent. Put them in a ziplock bag and soak them in hot water 30-45 minuts before you are going to feed. Even water that's too hot can start to cook the rodent. The rodent should be warm to the touch when it's ready.

Glad yours finally ate for you!

Mine will not eat albino rats and will not take a prey item that is dry, it has to be soaking wet, but that's all she's really picky about, I can live with it! :)

Well my male bp likes it like that...and thats all he's ever ate....but that is what I'm going to try next week at feeding time. If not she is just going to have to wait till the next week after that so I can get another live one. I don't breed or stun....couldn't do it.....I have had to many mice/rats as pets before....

Well I took my partners advice (from last night) and boidkeepers advice from today! I took a pinkie mouse f/t moust put it in a baggie and ran it under hot water......she pulled away....stopped, struck, missed (it is so small!) and pulled away again.......stopped, and struck! She took a F/T mouse! (I thought I would try after last night, she seemed to be looking for more food! I felt bad so I figured I would give it a try....my partner said that she probably didn't like the smell of it.....And boidkeeper said it smelled cooked......I am so glad for the experienced keepers on this site, and from my partners common sense!!!!!!!!!! I am just so happy! *dances around* :) :) :) :)

Lol....well the places I go to only has small rats and up, and she is DEFINITLY NOT big enough to eat those.
