For those of you who keep Colombian BCIs: about how large are they, on average, as yearlings?

I have a yearling that's a little over 3 feet long, which seems a bit small to me...Then again it's a male and I don't have any prior experience raising these guys, so maybe I'm needlessly concerned. Nonetheless, any input would be greatly appreciated...;)

3 feet is a good size for a male remeber boas don't grow as fast a burms or retics do.

I have a BCI that's almost a year old, and he's a litte over 3.5 feet, but his parents are gargantuan species. (Mom's about 13 feet, Dad's 8 feet.) 3 feet is just fine for a yearling. Are you feeding him rats? Mine eats rat pups, which may explaon his fast growth.

Thanks guys, this puts my mind at ease... :D

Invictus: He eats rat pups, but his parents are on the small side, each being only 6 feet, so it makes sense that he'd be smaller than yours.

no need to worry he is a perfect size try getting him on small rats every week.

rat pups on a yearly? Mine is a year old and eats medium rats. Check out the pics I posted in the general boa forum of him.

He could definitely take small-medium rats...he's taking 2-3 rat pups right now (when I say pups, I mean unweaned babies and, in my case, rather young ones at that)...I just need to get my butt in gear and track down some bigger prey...none of the places where I'm living right now have the right size.

The rats I bought were sold to me as "pups", but they aren't, if what you mean is just a weanling. These rats are about 8-9 inches (not including tail), so I guess they would be medium rats. Anyway, he looks like a beer bottle when he eats one, so it's plenty big. :)

Damn the pet stores and their stupid labelling, it's thrown Invictus and I quite a few times.

My argie is a little under 4 feet as a yearling, and she is being moved up to large rats. Id say your boa is a a fine size, go for large prey, and always freeze/thaw

Just fine. My yearling female is about 3.5'. Even if they are a little above or below average, as long as they are eating good sized meals regularily, and otherwise healthy, then its fine :)
