Long ago I read that Leos are not supposed to poop in their hides. Well a few months ago after a modification to murtle's cage, she started to use this upside-down terra-cotta pot as her toilet basically. It was intended as a hide but she uses it for her business. No other signs of ill health. Even when I moved her to the wood enclosure she still uses it (after disinfecting and everything). I've noticed too that since I put the babies together, I found a dropping in one of the coconut hides that they rarely go in. I just find this odd. They all seem perfectly healthy in every way. It's annoying though because I don't always know they've gone cuz it's not out in the open. Any thoughts?

 My high yellow male Mr. Muffin uses the same spot even after i clean and re-arange his cage and he goes over there and poo's on the rocks that i put over there, same corner no matter how much i change his cage around, Even when i switched his cage to a bigger one boom right over to the same corner, no matter whats over there thats where he does his bis.. My fattail female China Doll well shes really funny, when i totaly clean the whole cage and clean out the corner shes been using she goes and finds a new corner to start doing her bis..If i just clean the poo everyday she uses the same corner, but if i do a whole clean out its like "oh man that lady discoverd my poo spot, gota find a new one quick"... LOL!!!! Maybe yours are using the hides so no one can see them when they go, or that they think "man if someone finds it they will take our poo spot away".. Arent the funny.. LOL!!!:D

It's not that they won't go in thier hids but that they choose a specififc area to go.

That's funny. I was going to make the same exact post today. The baby albino I got on Monday has been using her hide as a toilet, too! Out of all the leo's I've had, she's the only one that has ever done this. Anyway, it was just a cardboard box hide, so I threw it out and made her a hide out of a plastic container. Now she has picked a corner instead. Thank God. That was annoying!

Well you can "potty train" leos:D Clean their cage really well and keep some of their poop aside. Rearrange the cage the way you like it and then choose the area where you want your leos to go to the bathroom. Place the old droppings in that area and before you know it they will be using that spot to defecate! It has worked for me every time:D

My baby albino, as I stated before, started using a corner after I threw away the hide she chose to use as a toilet. Well, today, she stopped using the corner again and is now using her humidity box...grrrrrrrr!
Only leo owners take so much interest in 'Poo' LOL
