I have found it very hard to take really good pics of BRB's. They never hold still, and it is hard to capture there color and irridecense. I have found that shooting from directly above them does show a bit more irridecencse. Anyone else have any pointers.

great shot, what types of lights are you using?

Thanks for the replies. The light was from a north facing window at about 11 am central time. I also had a fluorescent shop light on in the room. The daylight thru the window was much brighter than the fluorescent light though.

I find that you only seem to get the irredescence from the side angle of the scales. Which is why i think in your pic it only shows on the sides, and curve, of the top view. Here a couple examples.

Notice the angles that it shows up in? Hope it helps.

It looks like the irridesence shows up on the top and bottom of the boa if you take the shot form the side, and it shows up on the sides if you shoot from the top. So maybe the best would be at an agle somewhere inbetween???

I know what you mean, my 5 BRB' s are hard to keep still but once in awhile if you wait long enough and steady that camera you can get a great shot. Check out my gallery and see what I mean.

Nice snake! I want one with the same coloring.
for making the snakes stay still you might try covering them with a bowl or the like. and then lifting the bowl and snapping the pic. works for my corns.

I just take pics of me brb in its cage, by far the easiest. If you dont mind waiting they will usually sit for a couple min every now and then (get ready to FILL the camara with pics ;)). When my snakes do a pose i litterally take hundreds and just sort thru them later, easier for me...

It is very hard to take pics of mine as well. Usually I just use a hidebox, put them in it, wait til the settle in, then lift it off and snap a few quick pics until they realize "hey! There's nothing to hide under" and try to run.

very nice fokes I will ad some pics in a week or so when i get my pair
JDouglas,
Amazing looking specimen! Not common to get a snake that has both nice marking and great colour! As for pics of them...lol...when I find the trick to them I will let you know! They just won't sit still for even a second. It's impossible to get pics of them unless they are in their cage...
Here's an old pic of my poo brown female, lol I don't want to even post her in the same thread as your beauty :o, but its one of the best shots I've got irridescence-wise :p I can't ever seem to capture it really good with my male. True that over top shots seem to catch it well since you can catch the ridges at the right angle all down their lats, but side profile shots seem to work well for me as well...
