OK, iuse botha a UTH, and a Heat lamp in both of my BP's enclosures. using the heat lamps makes my temps hotter than i want. i dont know how to word it so i will make a table.:

Day
-hotside-in hide-110-115
-on hide-95

-cool side-80

Night
-hot side-in hide-98
-on hide-83

-coolside-75

i know this is too hot, so i turned the lamps of, and the hot side has lower to 90-92, and the cool side is at . Yay

so my question(s) is should i have i light source in/on/near the cage?, would a ceiling fan light on do?, and could not using a light when they were used to it stress them? thanx.

I had a similar problem (my wattage is a bit too high) so I just raised the light a little bit above the tank to decrease the heat that got into the tank. I don't think that getting rid of a light would stress them out, since they sleep through it anway. However, my snake's awake-asleep cycles seem directly coordinated to when his lights go on and off. Did they look stressed to you when you changed? (have their eating habits changed?)

i only noticed this today, but one was on the coolside all day, and as soon as i got rid of the light he went right for his warm side hide. for the cool side is 78 good, or is that too cool?
