No worries, I think someone else on these forums is also using my crested pic as a desktop. :) That's my male crested Dragonbait, btw.

The camera (Coolpix 950 actually, don't know what i was thinking before *L*) cost me about $600 Canadian last year from... Henry's, I think. Honestly can't remember off the top of my head, but I got it shipped to me from Ontario. Anyway, I imagine a 950 would cost you a lot less now... however, it was discontinued even before I got one, and they're not extremely easy to find. There's usually a few on ebay though, (like, right now there's 1 for $150 USD, and 1 for $229 USD). It's a great camera for a great price - especially if you want to take good macros in a point-and-shoot kinda way. If you're really interested, you should check out the review at http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikoncp950/

Two 'downsides' are you MUST get rechargable NiMH batteries for this camera - it will suck normal batteries dry faster than a vampire in a B movie, and you pretty much have to get a flash card reader - the camera does not have a usb connection on it, and the serial connection is slow.... if you have a flash card with 60 or more pics on it, you're literally going to be waiting a day or two to get all your pics off with the serial cable.

I use a c-4000 and it does awesome macro pics. Got to work on the lighting but it works very well. As for the c-5050 I also use, well you better not breathe when you take the pic or else it turns out blurry. Better put it on a tripod.

I use a Sony TRV740 Handycam, it doesn't have a macro mode, but I've been able to take some pretty nice shots with it.

I use the Canon A70. It is a great camera with numerous auto features as well as manual. The macro function is great, I have yet to push it to it's limits but here are a few quick shots.

I shoot fashion photography for a living so I can splurge a bit lol. My current digital setup cost about 5000 bucks...15,000-20,000 if you include lighting and studio stuff. Anyway, I use a Nikon D100 for most everything. It uses all the same lenses that my 35mm nikons use so it's very versitile. I can shoot anything from a bug's eyeballs to craters on the moon. However...the lenses are too large for easily shooting through a microscope without investing in even more gear so I strap a tube onto my old sony mavica and set the focus to infinity for shooting microscopic shots.

This is what a mite looks like under the microscope in case you guys haven't peeked. Looks a lot like a tick huh? cept it's the size of a pin head.

Man I need a digital camera bad, my friggin old regular fujifilm DL-270 Zoom where I get maybe 6 descent pics out of 24, I've run my patience with that piece of crap...only problem is i have an older computer that does only takes Parallel port, and digis are only made with USB connections these days. So I'm really stuck....gotta get a new computer then buy a camera...sigh.

Honestly like Linds mentioned....for a affordable camera the Canon A40 is the best bang for the buck IMHO. I believe they have been discontinued though....not sure...but you can probably still pick them up for a few hundred bucks.

I have a sony cybershot 2.0 Its great! LCD display, zoom before and AFTERyou take the pic, viewer screen to delete those horrible pics, etc. Comes with all the goodies at a good price. I got mine for 285.00 and upgraded the memory stick which brought the total somewhere around 350.00 (US)
