Hi, I just got a new tank for my new corn coming and I bought an in tank Cobra Heat Pad. How do I put that in my tank do i just put it under the bedding or could the snake still dig into it and get burned?

Sup,You place it under the tank not inside under the bedding, make sure you have a rhetstat so you can adjust the temperature of the heatpad, if you dont, you run the rick of buring your snake.

we've got our heat mat to the bull snake inside the tank because we have legs on the tank, but for the corn snake we've put the heat pad under the tank,.
our bull quite often lays on her heatpad...I asked a local reptile keeper about this and he said it was fine as long as you've got a thermostat to prevent the heat pad over heating.
as long as you've got a thermostat to control the heat and stop it overheating I would have thought there should be no problem inside the tank

never heard of putting it inside the tank. yeah, you really need to monitor the heat it produces. what made you decide to buy an in-tank heater repdude??? just curious...

I use heat tape which I ordered online. It's cheap and you can cut it to the length that you need. Heat tape fits under the tank and I would recommend an under the tank heater.

I can't see it being a huge issue IF you have a rheostat BUT what about when the snake pees on it? Or on the cord where it attaches or something?

Are these "in tank" heaters built to take this? I have never seen one myself.

I got a heat mat that can be used both inside the tank and outside. It is laminted so that if the snakes "pees" on it, or you spill the waterbowl, it should be ok.

Personally I use them outside my tanks but if I ever had to put them inside, I would still put loads of silicon sealer where there is the cord joining the mat.... just in case ;)

Ok ppl, this is to all of you that use a heat pad... do any of you have a wooden vivarium? i was wanting to know if i can use a heat pad under one or would it be a waste of energy? as the wood surely wouldnt let enough heat though would it? Its about 1.9 cm thick??
