View Full Version : What animal would this type of enclosure suit best?
Right now I have a 2ft x 2ft x 3ft all screen enclosure. Its housing a skunk gecko and golden gecko.
I was wondering though what else I could put in here? preferabbly reptiles. what would make use of this type of tank? Im pretty handy and can build posts, and climb areas and things like that. It would have to be something I guess that doesnt need too much humidity, or, the type of humidty that NJ offers (which I guess can be pretty high at times).
Thanks for your input.

I try not to mix species.

You could keep a hamster in it! :)
im not mixing species (well aside from the 2 geckos). The geckos would get their own home. I want to know what type of lizard/reptile/snake could have this enclosure all to themselves. Like, what would do well in an all screen enclosure that is that size?
Sorry for the confusion.

That cage sounds about right for a panther chameleon!

I don’t think any snake fair well in the all screen enclosures. Also not lizards with strong legs or sharp claws. I liked Alex’s suggestions. Most geckos would do ok in there and one of my favs, the Cuban Knight Anole.
Do you think it is well suited for my 2 geckos?
What if i sealed off 3 sides with wood, so just the top and front were screened. would that change anything?

You still shouldnt get a snake with that kind of enclosure. They like to rub their noses on the walls looking for ways to escape, and will rub them raw.

i would say the chameleon suggestion would work... they are very cool.

I agree, chams do well in ventilated enclosures such as yours :)

I had not thought of that, but that is a great Cham enclosure. Just mist it often and follow good hisbandry for it. Just remember that Chams are pretty fragile lizards and tougher to maintaint han some of the more common lizards. I f get one, be sure to spend the extra money for a CB. Imports like to just die for no apparent reason.
