I have 2 leos (male & female) and recently they've been piling up the sand in one corner of the tank. I'm sure this is nothing, but does anyone know why they might be doing this? I've had them for a few years now and they've never done this before, just seems strange.

Is she gravid? My leo's used to make a mess in their tank right before laying eggs. You know, preparing a nest sight.

she doesn't appear to be gravid. And she's laid eggs before with out this pile action. It's a very large sand pile, i was pretty surprised by it. I'll try to post a pic later on tonight if i have time.

Leos love to dig... it's an instinct to find food, bury eggs and create shelter. Sounds like they're just looking for somethin' - if you don't think she's gravid. Try tossing some mealworms in and letting them bury themselves. My leos get really excited when they 'find' food. =)
