When I got my corn (pet store) they told me that to feed it they had been putting it in a small enclosure with the F/T prey, covering it with a towel for privacy, and coming back later to find it gone. I started feeding using this technique, but curiosity got the better of me, so around the third feeding I'm peeking under the towel. Last night I fed her 2 pinkies, and she was eating the first one before I managed to drop the second one in the cage, so I just sat there and watched the show. I've seen snakes feed before, but it was pretty cool to watch my own doing it. :)

Now I'm wondering if I can get her to constrict her prey. Does this happen often with corns teating F/T?

By the way, thanks to advice from thisa forum, she's gone from 1 pinky a week (underfeeding) to 2 pinkies enthusiastically every 6 days. I'm moving her to fuzzies next feeding.

Usually baby corns will not constrict thier prey...Mine will only start constriting fuzzy's and up.

when I feed my corns in their seperate feed tank, usually they strike the prey quickly, before the mouse touches the ground. Once they do that, if you give just a little tug on the mouse's tail, the snake will constrict. I don't do this often because I don't want to cause any complications, but I have just to see their instincts at work a few times. Good luck....

when i first got my cal king, he was on pinkies. He would quickly snap the prey but he wouldnt constrict, just slurp them down. once he got to fuzzies he would constrict, and now that hes on hoppers he contricts like crazy, upwards of 30 min sometimes. oh ya, f/t

My male hasn't contricted a meal in almost a year. and he is eating small mice. He just creeps up to it and gently opens his mouth and eats it. My female on the other hand is a nut when it comes time to eat. the second she sees it she lunges at it and constricts for a few min. when she's in eating mode there's no stopping her. Oh yeah they only eat f/t.
