View Full Version : bp questions
Just wondering what the average number of bp eggs is and if, like some lizards, the sex can be affected by the incubation temperature? Also how old do males and females have to be before breeding?

I don't know about the temperature aspect, but i have read that it's more of a size thing rather than age when it comes to breeding...

Balls breed dependent on weight. Agreed weights for breeding are appox. 600-700 grams for males and 1500 for females. I personally feel 1200 is a fine weight for females but others disagree. With small females you get few eggs (1-4), as the animal grows, you get more. Collette reportedly, had a yearling 500 gram male breed this year so who knows?
As far as I know, sex is not determined by temperature like it is with crocodiles and some lizards. If you fluctuate the temp the balls will be born with a stripe. It's not genetic.
Hope this helps
