In my I drew up the plans. Today it came to my house. Thanks to me grandfather (he really wouldn't let me help me very much) I have this beatiful enclosure to house (separately) 2 leopard geckos and my rosy boa. I'm in awe. It's really heavy. Um it's 24" deep x53" wide x 42" high. The bottom part is storage. THe top is where the lights go. Enjoy!

Nice enclosure, its perfect, like you storage in the bottem and lights at the top.

Lol, I've been asked that but alas, only for his granddaughter. He wouldn't even let me pay for materials. But actually I think he really enjoyed doing it. he's always been good at this kind of stuff so I know it's solid and built to last a lifetime. He's 80 something, his mother just died at 104 and he used to spend most of every morning visiting her at the nursing home. I think he really enjoyed this project as something to keep him busy since he has more free time. :)

Beats me. Essentially it's all birch plywood. At least all of what the reptiles come in contact is. There's some poplar on the front and the very top might be pine. Inside the enclosures are some removable panels made from masonite. Which leave a perfect amount of space for a heat pad if I want to use one, but for right now I'm using lamps over stone. Each enclosure has a heat lamp attached to a thermostat and a compact flurescent on a timer. There are brackets to hold the lamps in place. The Enclosure section is removable from the bottom cabinet section. The very top comes off as well to make is easier to make major changes to the nights if I need to. There are also some vents in the sides and the back.
Ok ok I'll make an attempt to estimate the cost of the materials. I know he used two 8'x4' sheets of 3/4 inch plywood at 35 bucks apiece. The rest was all made from stuff he had on hand. Except the screen and some vents and a few other miscelaneous items. I'm not exactly sure what things he bought just for this and what he already had. I'd say it cost him 100 bucks (american) 150 at the most. I could be way off though.

I may have skimmed over the posts, but is it 3 divided cages? You should have that out in a living room as a display piece for everyone to see instead of having it in a bedroom.

Nice piece! I 've done alot of woodworking and I know a quality job when I see one. I see one! Your grandpa has a gift. Go give him some extra huggs, for he has given you a fine piece of furniture you will enjoy for life.

Thanks! Yes it is. Unfortunately I live in my parents house. When I move out this is definitely a living room piece!
