View Full Version : How much does your ball eat?
I have a 6 year old ball python that eats about 2-4 mice every week or so.
Does that sound about right? should I be trying to feed him a rat every other week?

I would stop the 2-4 mice bit. First off, that gets a little too expensive. Second, rats or more nutritious then mice. I say go with the one rat.

I say go with one rat, mayby every week or every two weeks. Which ever he likes.....
If you can, switch your ball to rats, it may be very difficult since your snake has been feeding on mice for such a long time, the longer they feed on the, the harder it can be to switch them over. Its best to feed one appropriately sized item, whenever your snake is hungry. Learn to recognize your snakes behaviour (cruising for food, etc), if you don't know how to read your snake yett, then stick to schedule until you do... once a week is safe.

Mine are just 2003's so they eat pinky rats every 5 days.

i try every 5 days with a rat pup, hes only 2 months old and i always feed a bit bigger than the largest girth diameter...
i would say o do a rat every other week.
Colonel SB, BP's @ birth are able to take meals much larger than a pinky rat. Not that pinkies are poor meals or anything, but they do not have the same nutritional value as a fuzzy.
