What type of snake would you pick from this list?

I am considering some of the following snakes.
IJC Python
Corn Snake
Childrens Python
Spotted Python
Kingsnake

Right now the IJC is at the top of my list, but I would have to wait till i could afford one of Yassers. :D

I was looking at cornsnakes, and they are cheap, but I dont know anything about them. I would have to do some research on size and temperment.

Im not a big fan of the childrens python or spotted python, but they stay small like my ball python (He is only 42 inches)

The kingsnake,....I dont know, dont really like it at all, but I found one up for adoption not too far from me, so I guess its something to consider.

Please give me your input on my choices, thanks.

Adopt the king. You want another snake, he needs a home, he costs nothing or next to it. Plus, what kind of king is it anyway? There's 8 species and many subs.

I'm going to have to disagree with enso. If the snake doesn't appeal to you, do NOT get it. You will only end up with a snake that you don't really have an enthusiasm for, potentially leading to its future sale or even lack of care.

All of the above listed can make great starter snakes (which I am assuming this is?). I say do your research on each one and see which one appeals to you the most. Asking us a question like that is like asking US what YOU want to eat for dinner ;) Everyone will only be giving their personal preferences for what they like, not what you like ;) Good luck with your decision :)

I'd agree to go with the king. You'd be doing it a favor by giving it a home. If it was me and I wasn't getting the king I'd go with the IJC, because I've always wanted one.

ijc python is cool but for me it will always be burmese python the python of all pythons.

Ooo go for the Irian Jaya!! Perfect snake... showy, usually calm and tame, beautiful, rarely hide... etc

I have to agree with Linds, she has raised many valid points. I do take in the occasional rescue snake (mostly corns) and I always end up giving them to new homes after they have recovered. Corns have never really appealed to me.

Go with the IJ, if that is what you like the most, and not get another snake just for the sake of getting something new. :)

I agree with Linds too. If yoou dun like it DON'T get it! Do the snake a favour and let it be rescued by someone who will love and cherish it.

I repeat people, DO NOT get a snake just cos it's available.

Oh and for the record, I'd recommend the corn. But look em up first and see if you take a fancy to them. But right now, by the looks of it, the IJCP would be your best bet.

If you do not have prior experience get the corn or king. They are less likely to get sick on you. Go with the pythons after a few months with the colubrids.

well the IJC is my favorite.
Corn snakes, I like the Black and Motly stuff, they look really cool, but i still have to do some research about them.

I guess no one has any input about the childrens and spotted python, I guess they arent that popular.

And yes, the kingsnake was just because it was up for adoption, I dont think I actually want it. So I know that really wouldnt be a good choice for me.

So Im between the IJC and the Cornsnake. I guess ill see what happens at the reptile show aug 9th.

I say trya corn first if you like 'em then work your way up to what you like best!

I am surprised no one has said anything about the species he has down in the antaresia genus. I personally like childrens pythons and spotted pythons. Relatively easy to keep, small,
handleable, pythons which I think look awsome!

The IJCP, spotted/children and the corn are all pretty good choices. It's up to you know to find out more about each and see what appeals to you. Of the three, my first vote goes to the corn, then the children's or spotted. Can't recomend the IJCP cos I've never had one. The only major difference in the care of the spotted and the corn is that the spotted needs a higher basking spot than the corn. Do your research and you will know whch it will be. Good luck! :)

IJC Python!!! if it was me though. but colubrids are easer to care for. get the one that appeles to u the most(like what was said)

If you are aready careing for a ball python with no problem experance isnt a big factor. u should be able to care for any of them with no problem.

Go with what appeals to you the most. All of them are not a huge challenge to take care of, specially if you've cared for a ball python. If IJCP is what you like the most, get it.

Go with what you want, as long as you know what you are getting into. I have cornsnakes and ball pythons at the momen.
a JC python can get pretty big compared to the size a cornsnake does and kingsnakes are also smaller size snakes.
Go with what you prefer. Just make sure you have the correct info and take good care of it.
