I have admired Candoias for awhile now. I wish that they were more widely available.

Nice one for sure, I'm envious

That lovely specimen is WC and therefore is most likely going to bite. Captive bred specimens on the other hand are usually quite "tame".

CB solomon island ground boas aren't calm. CB or WC. both are the same when it comes to being "tame"

I disagree. I had a CB yearling Island ground boa at one time and not once did it try to bite me. I was also told when I bought her that captive bred idividuals are quite "tame". The breeder even demonstrated how "tame" the are with both neonates and the yearling.

i have seen "tame" wild caught ones, and CB ones. and nippy wc ones and nippy cb ones... it wont really make much of a differience. i have been tagged by both CB and WC. i dont see much of a differience in temperment...

I had a large, wild-caught red female C. paulsoni years ago and she ended up surprising me with 23 little buggers. While she was gravid and basking, she turned almost coal-black!

I found the babies to be fairly calm, and the female was easy to handle. I had a massive, wild-caught male at one time, almost three feet in length, and he was sometimes a bit defensive.
They're not the "tamest" snakes, but they're not that bad. They do have a hell of a set of front teeth on 'em, though - almost reminds me of an Emerald, lol!
Definitely a nice animal you've got there JD!

Cheers!

Simon
