accident

Well it has been a little over a week since a terrible accident at my house.I came home to find my roomate a little distraght.He went on to explain to me that his buddy was over for a visit.This guy had also brought his dog with him.
Well at some point during the evening his buddy asked to see the snakes so my roomate showed him.When they left the snake room they did not close the door to snake room all the way.Well a little later the dog went downstairs pushed open the door,once inside the dog ended up knocking over a bunch of rubbermaids etc.Well the dog ended up killing off 2 boas 2 corns 3 kings,as well as a few injured.
This was a little much to take in at once.My roomate has since paid all vet bills and his buddy(who i don't trust at all) has said that he will pay for the snakes as well.Like I said it has now been a week and still no money from the buddy.
Well that is it for my venting.

Definetly a lock on the snake room door is a must. I've thought about making the door close automaticly for our snake room to prevent accidents such as what you had happen. You might also consider legal action if the buddy isn't forth coming with some dough.

You should go talk to him and make sure he pays you. Thats awful. Its always so sad to lose a reptile but losing so many like that is just horrible.

Oh my. That's horrible. I am so sorry to hear that. I hope that the injured ones are okay, and I hope that guy pays up. I hate irresponsible people. Good thing your roommate was nice and paid the vet bills, it's good to know that the person you have to live with can claim responsibility for his mistakes, most don't! Darren, I am sorry for your lose. That IS a lot to take in. If I were you, I would threaten (not necessarily follow up on, unless no action is taken) to pursue criminal damages. In some places if you lose breeding or show animals to an event similar to this you can estimate the losses from the breeding animals' annual litters/clutches (say your snake has about 10 babies a year, every year, and you typically sell them for $50.00 each, you can estimate how many clutches you could have profited from, had the accident not occured). This individual needs to be responsible for his pet, as I am sure you are about yours. It's a shame this guy hasn't given you ANYHTING yet. Keep us updated on what happens. Again, I offer my condolences.

Dogs are NOT stupid. In fact, u could probably learn alot from dogs. For instance, compassion, forgiveness, and unconditional love, to name just a few. To say dogs are stupid is a blasphemy. I agree with Linds, it's the ppl who are stupid. There are not many creatures on this earth, including humans, that are better than dogs!

Its not the dogs fault for sure. Dogs are dogs. Some accept animals, some dont. Some are curious, some are fierce. Dogs are a part of nature, and we as humans, cant control nature. Once again, sorry for the loss.

i have no problems with dogs, and i am sorry to hear what happend. but i do think people should take resopsibilty for they pets. if my burm got out and killed the neibors cat i would say how sorry i was and replace the cat.(although u realy cant repace a pet, maby fish?). but it realy isent the dogs falt but the peoples.

Thanks for all the kind words.I don't think i'll be kicking anyones a** over this.Violence will only lead to more problems.I do feel partly responsible for not having a lock on the door,but there will be soon...lol.As for the injured the seem to be doing alright so far.

For some good news ...corn eggs started hatching last night so I can focus on that for now.
