View Full Version : Sarge up close!!
Ok now this dawg is BIG! I mean he took up the whole house! Ok maybe not, but you catch my drift. And he's the best mannered brute too. Ryan and Sheila said that if they grow sick of him, they'll give him to us!!! ;)

Holy! What breed is he? Ive never seen such a big dog! :p
Must hurt when he steps on your feet... or jumps on your chest. Isn't old roy rat food?
Vanan you are looking a little nervous in that picture, LOL!
I dunno, do you feed your rats dog food? I thought rats ate lab rat blocks! Does Ol' Roy make a lab block too?
Poor Ol' Roy, never getting a break!
Great Dane and what else? One of the largest dogs i've ever seen. Holy #$%@!!! The bottom picture would make a good Ol' Roy advertisement. "Just a little Ol' Roy and your dog can look like this!"

My friend got a Great Dane x Mastiff that looks exactly like that, but a little chubbier.
That's a huge dog! He's awesome! :D So much chunkier than the Great Danes I'm used to seeing...

Well....WalMart brand dog food that a lot of people feed to their rats ;) I use it for my colonies. Can't beat a big bag for $15 :D
Although, SCALES should be the one answering this, they're off doing some shows, but Sarge came from German lines and thus is more "robust".
No disrespect but that dog is overweight.

WHAT I TELL YA
if i was a little younger i could ride him like a horse! i did it once when i was 5 on this big irish wolfhound
Well, we saw the dog in person and he did not look over weight. He's just a big robust dog. Not the thinner american type Dane.
Bencb3, I did try to ride him, but he did NOT like that! That dog was massive, I still can't believe it.
enso, Sarge is not overweight. His built is alot bigger than your average Dane becos he's from pure boarhound lines from Germany.

Sarge is a tad overweight. He's German, we are German - feed everybody good.
As was said, Sarge comes from a line of large Great Danes that were used for hunting wild boar. He is much different than most Great Danes in North America.
Just got word from Guiness that there is a Great Dane still living that is 41'' at the whithers. It is 10 years old, which is old for a Great Dane, so they are going to let me know when it dies, so we can enter Sarge.
I believe that Sarge has the largest head of any dog that ever lived, and he is also responds to the name "meat head" "slobber hound" and "god damnit, get off the couch".
As far as the Old Roy dog food. It is "rat food" quality dog food. We use it to help fill up his stomach while he eats some good quality mixed food.
I used to buy the $50 bags, but whe he was growing, he'd eat a bag a week.
As an adult, Old Roy seems to treat Sarge very well. Even though it probably contains a large amount of cats, Sarge likes cats - and doesn' associate them with food.
When we get back home, I will compile Sarges pictures and put them on a page on scaleszoo.com.

Sarge is over weight? He just looked "robust" to me. I mean Ryan, ok maybe he's a bit "robust" too.

They put euthanized dogs in that stuff too. You guys are the reptile experts, but my area is dogs. hehehe My dog eats raw meat. And I know you're all thinking I must have a pit or something (I wish!!!) but she's just a cocker. sigh! Oh well. Awesome dog tho.
