Scale Rot???

Please help - my carpet python seems to have a small case of scale rot, and I need to know how to fix it.

Can somebody please help me?

Scale rot treatment is not that hard. Just clean it twice a day with Nolvsan liquid, which is usually found at farm supply stores, or from a vet. Keep the snake opn paper towels or newspaper while it has scale rot, making sure to keep it clean and dry. Once treated, it will usually shed out in 1-2 sheds. Good Luck.

I had the same problem as you a little while ago.
BurmBaroness' method is great, and this is the one I used:
I soaked her every day for a week in a betadine/water solution for a few hours for one week, then every few days until her next shed. And after every soak I dried her off with a towel and put polysporin on her affected areas. She's since shed a couple times and now looks great.

What is your set up like? It would be good to know what caused the scale rot so you can avoid it in the future.

I had the same problem with my borneo. He tipped over a water bowl while I was away and was laying in soaking wet mulch for a few days. I also used a betadine and water solution. After drying him I used neosporin. After his third shed you can't tell he ever had it.

oh! I forgot to ad that you should leave a small water dish in there. only big enough for the snake to get its' head in.

You guys are great, and I really appreciate the advice. I had heard about scale rot before, but I had never encountered it in my tenure of keeping snakes. It was quite a shock (somebody else pointed it out to me!).

Anyway, again my most sincere thanks. I'm sure that whichever method I choose will work wonderfully!
