is there a too big?

just wondering for housing leos, can you give them a tank thats too big? as long as you allow a lot of hides would they still feel too stressed?
feeding wont be a problem as my leos eat out of their bowls with no problem.
i have a 125g tank sitting there being useless, was wondering if i could set it up as a colony tank?

There isnt' too big, i mean they live naturally in the wild with basically infinate ammounts of room. However, the problem with tanks that are extremely large is you will have a hard time finding your geckos, and they may have a hard time finding food (especially crickets, which tend to hide.) Big tanks take more effort to clean, and it's possible they may only use part of it. These are just what i can think of.

The more space the better, although it is not necessary. Just be sure in the bigger enclosures to provide enough hiding areas. It's also a good idea in really big tanks to use two water dishes. Mr.Gray is right, it just takes longer to clean:D

btw, Mr.Gray, you wouldn't happen to be refering to a Stephen King novel would ya? If so, very cool.

There not going to use half of it

its harder to clean..Need more decor..ALOT more to heat..
They will have hard time finding food..

it would offer them more space, my adult female doesnt get much exercise in her 20g other than when i play with her and i dont think it would be fair to her to put in my new baby with her once shes big enough.
it is already heated properly, decor isnt a problem (got a nice discount at the pet store i work at)
though crickets will become more difficult to find, they will still have the bowl of mealworms everyday. and it will offer my big girl a chance to become more active.
i think they will enjoy it more.

I think its a great idea! As forementioned, there is no such thing as "too big", they aren't confined to 2x1 boxes in the wild. I love seeing people willing to give their animals more than the minimum spacial requirements :) If I could afford the space I would set my leos up that way :)

I'd say it depends on the gecko. For the most part the bigger the better but just see how yours reacts. One of my geckos, Murtle, used to be my largest so I moved her from a 10 gallon to a 20 gallon. Well after a few weeks I started noticing she was really skittish. If she was basking and I walked by she would bolt into her hide. I moved her back to a 10 and she is much more relaxed.
