Hey this may sound a bit stupid but how to you constanly breed cresties and make sure you not inbreeding and crossing the wrong genes together. Do you just buy other cresties from different places or what?
Thanks

What I have done and still do is what I breed I sell and use that money to buy fresh blood so to speak. Also, I have about 20 colonies so record keeping is vital to this. You have to Mark each colony (1.2) cage a, b, c or 1,2,3 etc...
I dont keep my males with my females all the time. I put them together for the season from jan to may (not all at same time) and leave them together for about 6-8 weeks then pull the males out. I then make the male, male 1, 2, 3 or Male a, b, c. That way I know who they went to for next season. As eggs are laid they are maked from CAGE cause sometimes you get females that lay almost the same time and its hard to figure who is whos eggs.
This way you can match babies of your own if you wish or if people want to buy in bulk, you can be assured you are offering unrelated animals.
hope this answers all your questions.

ok, here is another question, i just recently bought 10 crested gecko babies, my friend and i split them in to two groups, his group and my group. However, is there ant way to tell if certain babies are related? such as colour or size?
Thanks

Nope. especially if they were housed as a group. Lord knows thats not the way to go. You will get some animals that will eat more then others... strongest eats first type thing. Not to mention Cresties are like people some have different growth rates and have growth "spurts" at different times.
Odds are some are related if they are different in size but if all are close to same size, they probably hatched close to same time so at best they are only half related (same dad).

Im going to call the place where i bought them from. I have 2 cresties housed in a ten gallon aqarium, both relatively the same size. Then i have 3 smaller cresties but relatively the same size in a 7.5 gallon criiter keeper (plasic tank sort of). Does this sound alright or do you recommend something different in terms of housing them and breeding them later on without complications?
Thanks for the help!!! :)

I dont know what that entails. there could custome issues and if I dont mark the box live animals then they might not survive. And if I do, they would probably be quarintined.
The other issue is time of shipping. I doubt it could be done next day so how many days does it take?
I dont know anything about shipping animals cross country borderes so maybe its not a problem but have never thought about it. These are just the things im thinking about

Hi my name is doug and i have had cresteds sent from throughout the U.S.all i reqired to do is have them sent to my nearest border crossing for me in B.C. it was the peacearch crossing in Blain W.A. i did not have a person to send them to so i used a mailbox ect. down in blain for my physical address and had them sent there via U.P.S. or airborne express as they get there usualy between a one to two window. The first time i did this i waited a long time as i was having several things sent from diffrent people and places they were useing diffrent couriers so they arrived at diffrent times not good.I did however learn from that and had everyone send via the same courier the next time without any problems all i had to produce was a picture of the animal and the suggested retail price (the cheapest one i could find advertised of course) because it was printed in black and white it does not have to be the actual gecko. And finaly you will have to pay your g.s.t.callculated in U.S. and converted over to canadian dollars it was a big pain to find this all out as i went along but it worked out and i got some sweet geckos.

Thats cool, im always looking for new cresties to add to my collection. I think i have talked to you already D Healey, i cant wait to see those pics.
Is'nt it possible to send it with Fedex overnight or sameday on a airplane??? Eric ill ask a friend of mine mother, she works for fedex, maybe she can give some info on the subject. If you do ever send to Canada, ill be very interested, if any of your crestie babies look like those pics you post and your avatar, thats a certain buy :)
Thanks
