Benefits of joining a Herp Association???

I was wondering if anyone could give me the benefits of joining my local Herp Association.
Also, I live in the Cleveland area. If there is anyone who is a member of NOAH (Northern Ohio Association of Herpetologists), could you let me know what you think of them specifically?

Making the acquaintance of other like minded people in your area. I would highly suggest the Southeastern Hot Herp Society to venomous keepers, regardless of where they live.
