Missing Python Slithers Out of Dutch Toilet Bowl
Fri Jul 11, 9:55 AM ET

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - A pet python missing over the last two months made its reappearance by scaring a Dutch woman when it slithered out of her toilet bowl.

The constrictor snake, which kills its prey by coiling around it and squeezing, had been on the loose for more than two months after breaking out of its terrarium in a town near the port city of Rotterdam, Dutch news agency ANP said on Thursday.

As police and vets came to catch the two-meter long fugitive python, it slid under a bathtub that they had to demolish to capture it.

The snake was returned to its owner, but local residents were unhappy to hear the owner admit that a second pet python, this one almost one-meter long, had also escaped and was still on the loose

I saw some T.V. show not long back on discovery I believe it was their snake week. Reticulateds came up as a topic, and they had a reinactment of a woman sitting in a bamboo shed above a hole (for a toilet) and a retic came up the hole and killed her. Of course, just a reinactment, they never said if it was a true story or not.... Would definatly ward me away from going to the washroom in any outhouse overseas haha..

THAT HAPPENED TO THIS GUY i USED TO KNOW, he lived in an appartment building and the snake appeared 2 or 3 floors down , and an old lagy bashed it to death with a frying pan.. (apparently he heard the story while riding the elevator with 2 older ladies.)
the same guy had a monitor jump off the 15th floor balcony, and live for a while in a nearby forest, soon to get killed by the highway....

irrisponsibility.. and inevitability.

haha... man, I wish I had snakes come up out of my toilet. I'd keep them. It would rock if like an albino retic popped out... I would be thrilled (im my dreams lol). hehe

While this is quite funny, it makes you wonder at the responsibility of the owners. BUT! I still wish a Burmese or retic would pop its head up while Im on the loo....If it could stand the smell.

Hmmm... You'd think the lady would have seen the snake before she sat down. But you know... mabye its just me who does that. :p The python BROKE out of its terrarium? Is that common or was it just a bad cage? Yea it would be neat to have a snake in your toilet.... in Australia I hear they often have frogs swimming in theirs. That would be nice :)

in australia isn't there a spider that lives under the seat of a toilet?

Any spider could live under the toilet, but I think it’s the Funnel Web you are thinking about.

You can prevent the funnel web spider and most creatures from inhabiting your toilets by smearing a thin layer of vaseline or KY on the seat. Most effective when done at night. :)

Always check the bowl before you sit down. :P

I don't think I would be too thrilled if a snake popped out of my toilet. I mean, if I even dropped a bar of soap into the toilet, I think I would have a hard time touching it afterward.

Isn't soap self cleaning?

It's the principle of it all.

If you accidently dropped a bar of soap into your toilet, would you comfortably pick it right out of the toilet and continue to wash your face with it? I'm guessing you would scrub down a few good layers then possibly consider to continue cleaning yourself with it.

I keep the lid down when the toilet isn't in use, cuts down on things like that happening, but yes I would rinse the soap under hot water for a while (so it could clean it's self), and if anything was in the toilet at the time I'd be throwing out the soap.

I just thought the quip was cute.

Not the first time I've heard of snakes showing up in toilet bowls. Back in Singapore there were two reported cases of a retic showing up in the toilet bowl. One case was about 9 storeys up in an apartment!

man, that reminds me of when i was on watching COPS on t.v this cop got a call that there was a 15 foot snake in there front yard. and i was thinking OHHHHHH NOOOOOO i have seen COPS befor and they usaly just kill the snake right off the bat no matter what kind of snake it is!!! so i was like NOOOOO well anyway the police officer knew what he was doing. he said that him and his kids would go out and play with the snakes that would show up in there yard. so anyway it ended up to be i big reticulated python and the officer get a big dog carrer and just picked up the python (the retic was tame) and just put it in the dog carrer. i was so releved that is wasent one of those dumb *** officers who would of just killed it with there glock or something. well anyway just thought i would share
