How did you incubate those, and what kind of substrate is that (pine chips). Don't know if you just transfered them there when they started hatching or that's how they were incubated.

Yeah, otherwise it would be like free advertising, and everyone would have a huge image etc.

If I'm not mistaken, that substrate could be perlite. Very similar to vermiculite.

Thanks Guys......

The eggs were put on the shavings after they started hatching for lack of paper towels......hehehehe;)

Here are my incubators .......they have worked great this yr everything from balls, childrens, spotties to my jungles have been no less than a 90% hatch rate ........all the babies are huge and hatch about 2 weeks earlier than any other system I have worked with .......

Give us a break down of what system you're usuing. Is it just water under the light cover stuff?

Hey Anette,
Did you make the incubator yourself? If so, could you email me and tell me how you did it? My email is darude_35@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Ben

Alrighty......

Well I have always used vermiculite/perlite mixed 1 in 1 with water by weight.....for the nesting boxes and to keep the eggs in after they have been layed.I incubated all my python eggs in a home made incubator ( gutted fridge with heat tape inside on a dimmer ). Late in the season last yr I kept having problems with my incubator and actually cooked about 60 eggs(not very happy about that) so I needed a quick fix to incubate the rest of my eggs.......I used a small rubber made put plastic egg crate inside and about 2 inches of water......put the rest of my eggs inside and closed the lid......put the container on a heating pad and hooked it up to my helix and set it at 89 F.......worked like a charm......Ended up with a 98% hatch rate....

So this yr I by passed the whole fridge thing and got a few wrapping paper rubber mades with a few air holes, put egg crate inside about 2 inches of water and hooked each up to 2 heating pads pluged into a helix.......they are just sitting on top of 2 of my shelving units in my tropical room........and seem to be working great......The only problem I see with doing it this way is 1) my eggs are hatching sooner than expected (not really a problem ) and 2) there is alot of condensation that builds up on the lid of the rubber mades and when ever u open the lid it rains on the eggs......( not sure if this is a problem yet) The eggs seem to do really well .......hardly any mold build up ........and they stay nice and plump, but not to plump.......I am currently incubating 1 clutche of Childrens, 1 clutche of Spotties, 1 clutch of Balls, and 1 clutch of Jungles......I have hatched 2 clutches of Childrens 100% hatch rate , 2 clutches Spotties 95% hatch rate ,1 clutch of Balls 100% hatch rate and the latest 1 clutch JCPs 100% hatch rate......This system is the best I have ever worked with in the last 15 yrs :D

Annette thats the same system we use and it works great.
We had the same water problem so years ago we got some velcro and used it to hold some of those magic cleaning cloths (you know the orange ones that suck up water like mad) to the inside of the lids and no more rain!!!
All you do is rip them off and replace with dry ones and let the wet ones dry for next time.
Easy!!!!!!!!!!!

Rick.
