Grey-Banded King Question

I'm just starting out in the world of herpetoculture. For years I bred parrots until illness and burn-out forced me to quit. Let me tell you, baby parrots can be quite a chore!

I'm going to start out with some beautiful corns, but the grey-banded kings caught my eye...the "Blair's phase" of course. I know they come in various combinations of grey and black with no, little or lots of red.

Question: if you breed two "Blair's phase" kings, are all the babies the color of the parents, or do you get some throwbacks? Or is it even more complicated than that?

Hi Ladyhawk,
As far as I'm aware, light-phase Blair's bred together will produce light-phase Blair's. I think it's a geographical variation that breeds true. Some locales are dark-phase, others light.

Some of the brightest babies come from the darkest parents too. In some respects they are as Cal. kings. That is, when you breed 2 different appearing snakes together, you can get some like one and some like the other. With still others displaying a bit of both. I breed my alterna male with my Blair's and get pretty much a mix. Still waiting on her to lay this year.
