The biggest I have worked was a female burm. She was part of a snake show I worked with in 1993. She was billed at 25’ and 300 pounds. She was legit about 21’ and 200 pounds. A real monster.

The biggest I have seen in person was at Snakes Alive in Cherokee, NC. That one was another female burm. She was billed at 28’. Not sure the legit measurement. I spoke to the owner last year. That snake died some years back. He told me that they weighted her the day she died at 280 pounds.

The largest I have ever owned was a male burm. He is approximately 17 feet and he weights about 80 pounds.

The biggest one I ever handled was at a reptile show when I was a kid. I was one of 10 kids who got to handle a 20' burm. I got the head. It scared the crap out of me at the time, but I've been addicted to snakes since then.

In recent times, the biggest I've handled was the mother of my little BCC. She's 12' long with a good girth. Total sweetheart though.

Hi, snake_goth,

Yes the first pic is a common boa.
Common boas are BCI = Boa Constrictor Imperator
This is what most pet stores sell as "Red - Tail Boas".
However they are not true red-tails.
For the pet stores it sounds better to call a Boa Constrictor a
Red - Tail Boa rather than by it's real name.
Some people freak out if they here the word constrictor.
I don't know why they just do. LOL

Hi Bryce Masuk,

Common boas are not "true red tails" they are BCI = Boa Constrictor Imperator.
True red - tails are BCC = Boa Constrictor Constrictor.
Some of them are Peruvian, Suriname & Guyana.
Here is a picture of one of my True red - tail. BCC Guyana.

Here is a good link to see more BCC.

The biggest snake I've handled is also our latest BCI. She's 8' and we haven't weighed her yet but the package she came in was 12.5 kilos with a 6' BCC. She's a handful, she knows how to open her cage when it's not locked.
