Hello! After a looong time together again :)
My question is, Which are the differencies between Boas and Pythons at the breeding issue.
The "thing" with Boas isn't like 1.2 or 1.3 with Pythons, for a succesful breeding?
Are there "other" rules for Boas?
~Thanks~Greg

If its breeding you're after and, more specifically, successful/consistent breeding, then don't think of it as groups of snakes liek "Boas" and "Pythons" etc etc. Take each species individually. What works for one python might not work for another, but might work for a few boa species. Always think species-specific, and you'll be ahead of the game man.

You see, here in Greece they ask for Boas and at this time i happened to have 1.3 Bci's, 1+1/2 years old and i am thinking breeding them next year.

I would definitely give your snakes more time to mature. 2.5 years is too young, IMHO, the breed BCI. With the exceptions of males, they can breed whenever they are willing (so long as they aren't completely dwarfed by the female), females however can suffer serious consequences if bred too early. IMHO they should be at least 4 years old, if you can wait til 5 thats even better.

As Jeff mentioned, it isn't a boas versus pythons thing in terms of easy of breeding, its a species-specific thing. For instance BCI are fairly easy to breed (when I say easy, I mean in comparison to other species), as well as ball pythons, however not all pythons and not all boas are easy to breed... some species have still not been bred in captivity at all.

Females should be at least 3 IMO a good 6 feet and very hefty weight. Breeding early is not worth the risk to your boa, remember breeding is very taxing on the mother!

I will agree for maturity time but i think at 3, 3 and half is good (according to the size of females of course!).
What i want to find with Bci's breeding is if i will have problems with slugs, with the virgin Bci females.
I've heard that virgin Bci's first birth will bring only a few babies and lots of slags. Is this true? and further more, are Bcis' so picky when it comes to breeding issue?
Thanks~Greg
