Why is my BP...

regurgitating? I have a 4' BP that I've had for awhile now, and just the last two times I've fed him, he would throw up after 2 or 3 days after eating. I've been feeding him only 2 mice every 7 or so days. Should I be worried? He's never had this problem before. Do you think 2 mice is too much for him to handle? I don't think so because he's a pretty big boy. I'm sure he could take down more than 2. Anyway, I was just wandering what I should do? Thanks!!!

What are your temps like? Humidity?? Are you handling your snake after feeding him??? These are all things that we would need to know :/ Then im sure you will get answers :D

Maybe the temp is too low...or maybe it has internal parasites.

A 4 foot ball should be able to eat 4-5 adult mice in one sitting. Better yet an apropriate sized rat.

I have him in a 30l tank, and on the one side, I have a light that stays on for about 10 hours a day with a temp of 88-90 degrees, and on the other side is heated with a heatpad, and the temp is constantly at 80. The humidity fluctuates between 50-60. I haven't had problems with him eating before, and just lately he's been throwing up.

Big Mike, my ball won't even eat a rat. He only likes mice. Yeah, I know he can take more than two mice. I would feed more, but now, I'm just having this problme with him. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think it's time for a visit to the vet. Sounds like an internal parasite problem.

How long are you waiting between regurges before feeding him again? Get your hot spot up to 95 in the mean time.

Sounds like a stomach bug to me........Flagyl should clear things up......and while you are at it you might as well give him Panacur as well.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I usually feed him once a week, and he regurges two days after feeding. So, there's about a 5 day span after he regurges till he feeds again. This only happened the last two times I've fed him. I'm gonna try feeding him again tomorrow because he ate last Tuesday, and hopefully nothing bad happens.

I would not feed him for at least 3 weeks. When they regurge all the bacteria and digestive juices all come up with the food. If you feed it again too soon the snake will puke again because the stomach has not had time to settle and build up all its juices again. Follow Corey’s advice and get the shoots and wait before feeding again.

You are best to have the vet do the treatments, it does have to be dosed out properly. Unless you have an in with someone in the vet field I don't think it is readily available to the public..I may be wrong though. Hope it works out o.k. for you


Corey or Trevor, can you answer that one? Is Panacur and Flagyl readily available? I am prepared to do the math and administering if I can get my hands on it.
