Does anyone know if there is an alternative to Black Knight? Something that has the same active ingredients? Someone told me the active ingredient in Black Knight is also used in some insecticides that are used on plants and veggies. Just wanted to see if anyone knew any of the products it is used in. Thanks.

You looking to get rid of mites? You could also try Provent-A-Mite. Or you can use Nix, which I think is the best, safest, and cheapest :) Check out www.moreliaspilota.com for step-by-step instructions.

I've used Provent-A-Mite before. I just was hoping to be able to get something today or tomorrow and not have to wait for it to be shipped. I just talked to a breeder here in Florida. They don't have any Provent-A-Mite right now and he suggested using lice bedding spray. He told me it works as good as PAM. I'm not sure if Nix is the company that makes it.

In addition to Black Knight I use Sawyers Tick Spray or Repel Permanone. I use the BK to "pre-treat" items that come in from the pet store. The Sawyers and Repel are used to take care of the cages.... once a month while the snakes are eating I remove the water bowl from the tank and give each tank a quick blast. Then let it air out for a 1/2 hour or more before putting the snake back in the cage. The Repel and Sawyers will leave a residue in the cages that will continue to work on mites for up to two weeks.
What ever you do DO NOT spray any of those products directly on the animal!

I use NIX myself. I just picked it up at the local drug store.

Cool, thanks for the advice. Stormyva, where do you get the Sawyers and the Repel?
