HEy all....
Just a quick question.......how big is the biggest turtle that can be found in the St. Lawrence River?

The Spiny Softshell is found there... can be up to a 17" carapace length. Common snappers range there I believe, they get pretty darn big. 30-40lbs not uncommon. There are several smaller species as well. Wood turtles, painted turtles, map turtles...

Its the snappers you'll come across more often of the larger species :)

Supposedly the Ontario record for snappers is 18" carapace length, but in NY state one was measured at 19". Female softshells could get close to this as well, but you're extremely unlikely to find one.
Next largest would be female maps, which can reach just over 10" carapace length. Pretty much everything else is considerably smaller.
