View Full Version : timmor monitors
i was wondering if there is anyone breeding these little guys and if there is any other kinds of monitors i can keep with them
thanx dean
Dean,
Monitor lizards are not the type of animals you can keep together with other species, unless you want some of them to be well fed, happy campers...Erik W. of Chicago Herp. Soc. has bred timorensis and you can seek him out via their web page. He visits other vara-forums sometimes I think...
FYI, timorensis is a lizard/insect eater, so putting other reptiles with it, would only provide it with a good menu !

There is currenly no one I am aware of that is producing Timor's in Canada, though the odd breeding has occured in the past. It's a shame too, I'd love to see more of these mini-Indo species around.
Maybe one day.....
Once upon a time there was a very warm friendly Varanophile, Tom Huff who was wonderful to share information on varanus, lived in Canada and was very generous, but he has passed away some time now; another was Quebec zoo that kept V. bengalensis and their head zoo keeper there Allan Toth, but he has moved on, and I have lost track of him to-date....he no longer works in zoos that I am aware of....but you do have S. Blain who frequents this forum, and to-date is best breeding of Varanus in North America I am aware of....
cheers,
