Hey guys. I think I found the IJ that I want. Shes a yearling female from Bob Clark. IM Buying from Jeff Hartwig. I believe he said that they were about 2 feet or so in length but Im not sure. What should this be feeding on? I know IJ's are a lot different than BP's so im not sure the width. What should it be housed in? Could it be housed in a 3x2x3? I think thats all I have for now, I just wanted a second opinion before I spent my money. :) Thanks.
I think it's probaby bigger than 2 feet at a year old. My little hatchling is 21" and she hatched 2 months ago.
I just feed a rat that is a little big wider than the width of the snake. IJs are slender so you need to feed a big bigger.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, IJ's are quite arboreal, so you'll want an enclosure that is more tall than long with a shelf to perch on, and a tree branch if you can find a good sized one.
3ft is more than enough height for an IJ. They max out at about 70% arboreal, and many are much less. All of mine except one female spend abotu half their time on the ground. If they have a shelf, though, they spend all their time on it. They love shelves.

If you can get one eating rats its better.
They can be hard to change over from mice.

That's an excellent cage size. Make sure to take advantage of all that space by using lots of branches and a shelf or something along those lines. a hide is always nice, but I find that they dont always need a hide (altho they will use it sometimes.) an excellent way to provide a hiding spot, and add to the esthetics of your enclosure is to use either real or fake plants/leaves along the ground. If my IJ is on the ground he's usually curled up amongst some leaves (I use real plants).
small/medium sized frozen/thawed rats would probably be appropriate for your yearling. my male was around 3 feet long at a year old. they are champion feeders, and you'll be amazed at what size of prey they can take down thier gullets.
