I scaled the resolution on my camera down to 640x480 and this is what it looks like:

Resolution and picture quality do not always go hand in hand..
More megapixels means bigger, but not necessarily better. The camera's image processing systems and lenses contribute to image quality.

yea i looked on cnet and the rest of the sites but i wanted to know information from a fellow herper who might want to take pictures in the nature, scenic sites or whatever. anyone have any opinions?
A really good site to visit is www.dpreview.com
Is that $200 in US or CDN?

get a sony mavica i dunno the exact name of it but i know if you look at the mavicas there really nice but they cost a pretty penny, i just bought one.:)
I would suggest getting a minimum of 2 megapixals, it's better to have more then less as you can always "tone it down" but you can't get more pixals when there aren't any.
